Day 2 of our Advent Calendar Most projects include a new kitchen, and usually it’s the most exciting part of it (and the most expensive) however it’s important to think about the design and layout early in the project, ideally before your builder starts. Here’s just some examples of why: 👷🏻‍♂️ Ensuring services are connected in the right place, for example if you’re having a island with a extractor or sink, these positions are needed right when the subfloor goes in 👷🏻‍♂️ Underfloor heating - having the kitchen layout sorted ensures underfloor heating is installed in the correct place 👷🏻‍♂️ Door and window positions - imagine having a big expensive bi fold fitted but realising your kitchen design won’t work with the wall space left? 👷🏻‍♂️ The chance to make your project unique - pillars and niches could be created to hide construction elements, which could be incorporated into your kitchen design 👷🏻‍♂️ Electrical requirements - higher rated appliances required their own supply from the board so ensuring your electrician knows what appliances you want is vital for a smooth install All the above and more can lead to unwanted additional costs and issues for your builder so think about your design and layout early, you don’t need to know the colour and type of handles but know your requirements and layout #christmas #advent #selfbuild #newbuild #renovation #architecture #interiordesign #newhome #construction #diy #selfbuilduk #home #buildingthedream #dreamhome #design #selfbuilding #selfbuildhomes #timberframe #kitchen #selfbuildjourney #newhouse #offgrid #architect #homedecor #house #building #renovationproject #homedesign #buildingourhome
