It very much depends on how you’re managing the project and how hands on you want to be. Turn Key Contractor - if you’re employing a turn key contractor to carry out your project, they should be managing the project, however if you’re a busy person or would prefer to have independent support between you and your contractor and budgets allow, I would highly recommend it. Even with a turn key contractor managing your project it’s good to have someone looking after your best interests. Self Build / Multiple Tradesman - if you have zero construction experience then I’d highly recommend you employ a project manager. Managing trades, time schedules and materials on projects requires knowledges and experience.
