Last week at property and poppadoms networking event I spoke with a friend who at 45 years old has recently decided to jack in the day job, retire and move to Spain. Seems that simple? Well not quite. he’s been a property investor for 10 years whilst working a full time job, it really got me wondering about the art of delayed gratification and how it’s so important in business, especially in the early stages. It made me think; how many times over the years could this man have quit his job simply because he didn’t feel like it any more but continued because when the time was right he knew it would be worth it. now as a result he gets to retire at 45, in a hot climate with his family’s future secured. 🔑 key points to note of delayed gratification ✅ Fosters long term growth ✅Builds stronger foundations for future ventures ✅Cultivates discipline and resilience ✅ More likely to achieve success by trading instant wins and comfort for sustained growth It’s very difficult in the beginning when your business gains traction to not upgrade your life style, practicing delayed gratification is a form of art. Master it!
