𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭? A glass sweet bowl - it would probably sell for £1.50 at a charity shop. It was my Nana's - she always filled it with midget gem sweets when I went to visit her as a young lad. At New Year I would usually stay with her while my parents went out 'on the town' with friends. Darts - as a family we loved watching the World Championships at New Year. My Grandad was a decent player, my Dad played a lot. The feelings of happiness, safety, comfort and memories that I will cherish forever all come flooding back when I have this triple combination - glass bowl + midget gems + darts. The glass bowl is priceless to me - there is no amount of money that could replace those feelings. These memories make me very happy. I always felt so safe at my Nana's. What's the message? In short, material possessions are nice - I like designer clothes, the Porsche that I had was an amazing car (that was quite a low point when I think about it), I have a nice house, I like 'nice' things. They don't give me happiness - the reality is that money gives you options, flexibility and choices - that's for sure. Being motivated by money isn't a bad thing at all. Balancing this with what is truly improtant to you is where the big wins are. This is the type of work that I like to do with clients - really understand what drives you, what do you value? Then chase goals and focus on things that align to these values - then we can really start hunting a fulfilling existence. This is the true strategy to happiness. I've definitely learnt what is important to me and although I always believed it was the showy things - it isn't. They are the 'nice to haves'. But no material possession can give me the level of comfort that my £1.50 glass bowl and midget gems gives me. I was given it when my Nana passed away and I always use it for a few midget gems - particularly at New Year watching the darts. I'm in a very happy place. A cracking performance by Peter Wright vs Luke Humphries - who are you tipping for the title? Luke the Nuke now this year? Or will MVG step up to the oche with his performances?
