I had the pleasure of being hosted by Ideal-Recruit this week to coordinate a workshop with some of the team regarding stress and how it is impacting their own wellbeing and performance at work. From my own experience in the high volume temporary labour market, seasonal demands can put a lot of pressure on recruitment teams. Here's some of the issues that I've witnessed personally over the years. โžก๏ธPoor planning from the client, causing short notice demands โžก๏ธInadequately trained managers speaking to recruiters like sh1t โžก๏ธThreats of 'losing your business' if you don't meet these requirements โžก๏ธBullying of staff - I've had staff in tears at the way they have been spoken to โžก๏ธI've experienced bullying personally myself - as a Director โžก๏ธThe blame game - 'it's the agencies fault' It is important to say that I have worked with top quality clients and delivered some exceptional results when a proper partnership has been formed - a two way street. We have problems (we're dealing with people) and we just get them fixed. We deliver together. Let's not forget the natural pressure that comes from the expectations of delivering in a competitive sales environment also. A thought provoking session - understanding what stress is, what's happening in your body, coping mechanisms, lifestyle choices (of course I touched on the impact of alcohol and stress) and an independent exercise to dig deeper personally. The group conversation bring things to life, a safe space and opportunity to talk about what can create stress and how it affects them. Of course, in person coaching from me on specific examples.
