🌿 Have you ever tried eating in total silence? 🌿 No chat, no phone, no TV or laptop: just you and your food. To start the new year, I attended a retreat. It’s something I’ve made a tradition for the past six years. For me, it’s the perfect way to unplug, reflect and reset before stepping into the next chapter with fresh energy. This time, in a beautiful Catalonian valley, silence was practiced from 9pm to 3pm the next day. That meant eating breakfast and lunch in complete quiet: no conversation, no distractions, just me and my meal. And WOW… what an experience! I ate more slowly, fully immersed in the rich flavors and textures. Each bite felt more intense, and I found myself appreciating the journey of every ingredient. It made me realise how long it’s been since I truly focused on a meal — without a screen, a conversation, or a rush to finish. 🌿 Why eat in silence?🌿 Mindful eating isn’t just about slowing down; it benefits both mind and body. ✅ Better digestion: Eating in a relaxed state helps the body process food efficiently. In contrast, eating while stressed can interfere with digestion. ✅ Prevents overeating: When we eat mindfully, we recognize fullness cues, making it easier to stop when satisfied. ✅ Enhances appreciation: Focusing on flavors, textures, and the effort behind a meal cultivates gratitude and awareness. This experience has given me a new perspective. It’s not just about mindfulness. It also strengthens focus and willpower. 🌿 Want to give it a try?🌿 Next time you eat, take a few moments of silence. No phone, no TV, no distractions... just you and your food. You might be surprised at how much more fulfilling the experience becomes! Let me know if you try it. I’d love to hear your thoughts. 😊
