Are you Proactive or Reactive? When you find out that “you don’t know what you don’t know” applies to you…..and it’s a problem, you may turn to someone who has been there before. Additional insights can help a project, investment or business from inception and throughout. Streamlining processes, uncovering new opportunities and mitigating potential risks are some of the elements I work on with a small number of clients and partners. Decades of knowledge and experience should be a great asset to any business and there are new and scaling businesses that get this and bring the experience in before they may need it. What stops people from being Proactive rather than Reactive? From experience the main reasons that I come across are: Limited resources and time constraints. Cognitive overload and stress. Habitual patterns and comfort zones. Lack of confidence and fear of failure. Supreme confidence. Whatever the reason it often results in: Increased stress. Increased costs. Missed opportunities. Reduced control. Long-term strategic setbacks. It’s extremely frustrating knowing that I could’ve helped. If either I was better at telling people how I can best help or that people felt able to reach out. Any development issues, from project acquisition through to hold or sale exits, myself or one of my core team or experienced connections will be able to help.
