The Building Safety Levy Hopefully the lobbying efforts of the HBF and many of the nationals and large regional housebuilders and developers will see a pause and strategic review of the Building Safety Levy. It is likely to apply to all newly created dwellings with a locally set fee per unit, or potentially differing fees based on size of dwellings. The government are expecting to raise £3.4billion so the fee isn’t likely to be small. Following meetings in Downing Street over the last couple of weeks a last ‘hopeful’ letter has been sent. Very much fingers crossed that someone sees sense and reviews before they press any buttons. For clarity this policy was started by the Tories.
