I’m taking a break from alcohol at the moment. It’s something I’ve done before when I’ve felt like my body and mind could do with a reset. I don’t drink often, but over the past year or so, even one or two glasses of wine are enough to turn me into a sad, unmotivated gremlin the next day. I wake up feeling anxious, eat my body weight in junk food and generally waste the day wondering where my energy and motivation have gone. Then, just to top it off, I feel guilty about it. Great! It makes sense, though...alcohol messes with brain chemistry. It gives you a nice little dopamine boost at first, but when that wears off, your brain throws a tantrum, leaving you feeling low. It also disrupts sleep and depletes key mood-regulating neurotransmitters, which might explain why that "one drink" sometimes feels like a terrible life choice the next morning. How about you? Do the lows outweigh the highs? Have you taken a break from alcohol, and if so, how’s it been? Would love to hear your thoughts. #AlcoholFree #MindBodyReset #MentalHealthMatters #DopamineCrash #SleepMatters #HealthyHabits #MoodAndMindset #EnergyLevels #SelfAwareness #BrainHealth #LifeChoices
