If I were starting again…..… I was having a conversation at a networking event recently when they asked me“If you had to start from scratch, what would you do differently?” I told them, I’d take time to really understand the local markets and choice an area what works, what rents, what’s overhyped and concentrate on that area. Once I’d mastered it, broaden my horizons. I’d also concentrate on one or two strategies that align with my goals and my strengths. Again once I’d become an expert in them strategies I’d look at expanding. AVOID the shiny penny syndrome and stay in your own lane. I’d make sure I’ve got the right people around me, not just trades but people who are excelling in property. Networking events are a great place to meet these people. The advice and knowledge at these events is priceless. And I’d set a clear idea on the budget, Work out what I can afford and whats out of reach. This will help stop been overwhelmed when looking for properties. No assumptions, no guesswork, just clarity. These four things could save you a lot of time and stress. I believe everyday is a school day and we are always evolving and learning. Feel free to comment if there is anything else you’d add to help you start over again.
