🧠💚 Smart Meds Sunday | Mental Health Awareness Week “We are not meant to do life alone—online or offline.” This week, I wore my green attire and green ribbon and joined many around the world in honouring Mental Health Awareness Week—a small symbol of support, but a powerful reminder: Mental health affects every one of us. And yet... Living in Sweden, what’s become clear to me is how deeply loneliness can root itself in even the most developed societies. Where I live, community feels like a forgotten concept. No street parties. No collective celebrations like we had in the UK. It’s ironic, in the age of digital hyperconnection, that so many feel alone. 🔗 Oliver Chantler, Head of Policy and Public Affairs in England, raised a key point: “Negative online environments are damaging to mental health, especially in young people.” 📱 And I couldn’t agree more with Denmark’s bold move to ban mobile phones in schools. This aligns closely with the powerful insights in Jonathan Haidt’s “The Anxious Generation” (Bill Gates' recommended read of the year). Haidt asks: Would we send our children to Mars with no return, under someone else’s control? Or How would we feel if our kids spent every day in a casino, being psychologically manipulated? Because that’s what unchecked social media exposure is doing—at the most vulnerable stages of brain development. 📊 Research Backs This: A 2023 Cambridge study found passive social media scrolling increases depressive symptoms, especially in adolescents. On the other hand, active, meaningful social interactions—like real-life conversations, shared meals, and face-to-face contact—build mental resilience and emotional intelligence. That’s why I still value face-to-face networking deeply. Yes—many of my incredible property investors found me via social media (from Sweden, Singapore, Australia, and beyond!) But the most meaningful connections? They come from: ✔️ Sitting next to someone ✔️ Sharing a drink ✔️ Not needing to talk all the time ✔️ Feeling seen That’s the kind of mental health support no algorithm can replicate. 💬 Here’s my call to you today: 📣 Let’s use social media intentionally—not addictively. 🤝 Connect meaningfully, both online and off. 💚 Prioritise community, wellbeing, and real relationships. 📲 Follow me for more conversations around: Mental health Wealth building Sustainable investing Parenting in a changing world Let’s grow with clarity, not just followers. #SmartMedsSunday #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #GreenRibbon #LonelinessMatters #SocialMediaImpact #TheAnxiousGeneration #JonathanHaidt #DigitalWellbeing #MentalHealthMatters #FaceToFaceMatters #PropertyWithPurpose #InvestWithHeart #OnlineSafetyForKids #ParentingInTheDigitalAge #SustainableLiving #HealthAndWealth #GlobalCommunity #MentalHealthEducation #FollowForMore #ConnectWithMe #ConsciousLeadership #NeurodiversitySupport #DigitalMinimalism #SocialMediaWithPurpose
