An Unexpected Swim Partner 🦭 A Lesson in Presence & Perspective After a busy week of work, I took my usual sea swim to decompress and reset, a daily ritual that’s become essential since moving here four weeks ago. As I made my way through the murky waters (the sea had been rough for days), I felt something brushing against my legs. I initially wrote it off as seaweed or the sun playing tricks on the surface. But soon enough, a swimmer nearby shouted, and I turned to see a seal pop its head up just behind me. Yes a real seal, swimming right beside me. To my amazement, it continued swimming alongside me and another swimmer for the rest of our time in the water. When we finished and started to wade back to the beach, the seal playfully nudged my fellow swimmer as if to say, “Let’s keep going.” It even came into the bay, entertaining the children watching from the shore. Locals say this seal returns each year, clearly comfortable & tame among humans and curious enough to interact. It’s rare to experience wildlife this closely, and even rarer to share space with it in such a personal way. This unexpected moment reminded me of something important: Even in routine, there’s always room for wonder. Whether it’s work, life, or your environment staying open, present, and curious can lead to incredible surprises. Here’s to embracing the unexpected and finding magic in the everyday 🌊 #LeadershipLessons #MindfulMoments #NatureAsTeacher #WorkLifeBalance #Wellbeing #RemoteWorkPerks #CoastalLiving #Presence #WildlifeEncounters
