Learning on the Water: A Lesson in Balance, Resilience & Support 🌊 Tried paddleboarding recently and was reminded how much learning something new, mirrors the challenges we face in both work and life. It took just a couple of attempts and I was up on the board, a little shaky and unsure, but making progress. The water was calm, though the presence of a few jellyfish 🪼 definitely encouraged me to stay upright! 😅 By the end of the session, I was feeling more confident… until the wind picked up and carried me out into deeper water. Trying to turn around, I fell off 🙈 and that’s when the real lesson kicked in. I couldn’t get back on the board. I could have swam back to sure, but it would have been tiring! Not ideal! Thankfully, a couple of kind swimmers helped steady my board, so I could climb back on. I paddled back in (staying well within my depth this time!) and reflected on what a valuable reminder it was: ✅ Sometimes we dive in before we’re fully ready ✅ We will fall, especially when we stretch ourselves ✅ Asking for help and accepting support is part of the journey ✅ And above all, every experience is an opportunity to grow Whether it’s a new skill, a role change, or a bold new project, staying balanced, being open to help, and enjoying the process are key. Since moving I’ve had a much better work, life balance. After a long hot 🥵 day at work, the perfect place to cool off is in the sea 🌊 either a relaxing swim or learning to paddleboard, it’s my sanctuary 👌 To top it off a beautiful evening walk with the dog & a lovely sunset 🌅 Here’s to more learning, more laughter, and more getting back on the board! 💪 #GrowthMindset #LifelongLearning #LeadershipLessons #TrySomethingNew #Resilience #SupportMatters #Paddleboarding #PersonalDevelopment #WellbeingAtWork #BalanceAndGrowth
