Half way through to the current main event. The weekend was all geared towards the half marathon on Sunday at Aintree Racecourse, a RunThrough event. The family in tow, an early start, my running prep has been pretty good with a lighter week on the run up to this event. I'm a novice runner - it's not a discipline I've ever been particularly passionate about over the years, but at 49 years old it's a good challenge. My time - a fair 2:03:56, no world record but a personal achievement which I'll take.. Last year was a cycling challenge and this year the Chester marathon in October - 11 weeks to go. Some form of activity goal is a great way of supporting those shorter term goals, habits and routines. Sit on your arse and eat sh1te binging on Netflix, or eat well, hydrate, exercise. It's in those moments that a longer term goal will help. Without it, you may find those decisions go t1ts up! This isn't about creating some rigid and obsessive daily routine that you don't have a life, but creating a way of living. I know I feel better having the latter.
