The government’s latest NHS funding announcement is positive on the surface, but headlines don’t create real change. For me, the real opportunity lies in how that money is used. Too often we overlook the link between our homes and our health. Damp, cold, or unsafe living environments quietly contribute to respiratory problems, stress, and other conditions that end up putting huge pressure on the NHS. If funding was directed towards raising awareness and supporting people to make their homes healthier and safer, we could prevent a lot of illness before it ever reaches hospital doors. That means tackling mould, improving insulation, and creating environments that genuinely support wellbeing. This kind of preventative approach wouldn’t just help the NHS cope, it would improve lives and reduce long-term costs. The question is: will this funding be used in a way that really addresses the root causes? Or will it remain another short-term fix? #NHS #HealthyHomes #PublicHealth #HousingQuality #Prevention #BuiltEnvironment #Sustainability #HealthInequalities
