Getting the cheapest bag of cement will not save you thousands on building materials for your build ⁉️ Every talk I do, I encourage a good procurement strategy! It can save you more than 10% on your overall costs, but it’s not just about getting the biggest discounts. 🧱 Build solid supplier supplier relationships - it will get you competitive prices and they will dig you out the 💩 when you’ve forgotten something on a Monday morning. 🧱 Plan a month in advance, order your materials early, it means you have time to secure the best deals and ensures you won’t have stand down time - builders stood with no materials will cost you more than the 20p you’ve saved on a bag of cement 🧱 Know your lead times, plan when you need to order, longer lead time products such as Truss, windows etc you can then plan labour accordingly. 🧱 Track and Check, keeping a simple spreadsheet on the prices you have agreed will quicken the invoice checking at the need of the month!
