In today's busy world, it can be so easy to become stressed out and sucked into a spiral of negative thinking. 🤔 Do you think that you are able to identify whether a thought you have is positive, negative or neutral? A technique you can try to create some distance between yourself from negative thoughts is called the 3 jars technique: 1. When a thought comes into your mind, take a moment to analyse it with your detective lens on. 2. Decide whether it is positive, negative or neutral. A positive thought might be “I’m looking forward to seeing my friend later”, a negative thought might be “I feel rubbish today”, and a neutral thought might be “I need to buy my cousin a birthday card”. 3. Imagine putting that thought into the appropriate jar: positive, negative or neutral. This technique has benefited many of my clients, helping them to put some distance between themselves and their thoughts, and stopping them from getting sucked into a negative thought spiral.
