This might be the biggest shift in UK mental health policy we’ve seen in years. The government has just announced an independent review into mental health conditions, ADHD and autism, led by Professor Peter Fonagy. The numbers that affect us all: • 1 in 5 people have a common mental health condition • ADHD affects 3-5% of the population • Around 1% of adults may be autistic Why this matters to property professionals: Running property businesses, managing developments, dealing with investors - these are high-pressure environments. I see it constantly in my coaching work: driven professionals pushing through burnout, undiagnosed ADHD manifesting as “can’t switch off” or executive function challenges, and work cultures that reward “pushing through” while paying lip service to wellbeing. Many are struggling without understanding why, or waiting years for proper assessment and support. This review could be a genuine turning point - moving from stretched services to real pathways of support. Early intervention. Preventative care. Proper understanding of how these conditions intersect. I’m hopeful. What’s your experience been with accessing mental health support - for yourself or your team? 📄 Read the full government review terms of reference here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/independent-review-into-mental-health-conditions-adhd-and-autism-terms-of-reference
