Ever feel exhausted… even though you haven’t really worked all day? Or worse — exhausted from your side hustle, property business, or multiple roles, on top of your “day job”? I juggle clinical work, motherhood, and running a property business, and here’s a truth we don’t talk about enough: 👉 Exhaustion doesn’t come from hours worked — it comes from cognitive overload. Most of us only have 60–90 minutes a day of true deep-focus capacity. After that? Decision fatigue sets in Errors increase Productivity drops Everything feels harder than it should Yet we still cling to the outdated belief that longer hours = better output. A well-known Stockholm study trialled nurses working 6-hour shifts while being paid for 8. The results? Fewer errors Better patient care Higher staff wellbeing Increased productivity And yet… in reality, many nurses still work 8–12 hour shifts — sometimes even 16 hours. We call it “resilience”. But let’s be honest — it’s a system failure, not a badge of honour. The same mistake shows up in business and property: Hustling longer instead of thinking better Doing everything yourself instead of building systems Confusing busyness with progress Productivity experts like Cal Newport (Deep Work) and Chris Bailey (Hyperfocus) agree: Deep work is limited, valuable, and must be protected. That’s why I protect my Power Hour — the time where real decisions, creativity, and problem-solving happen. Everything else? 👉 Delegated. Simplified. Systemised. Because working longer isn’t the answer — working intentionally is. Question for you: What would change if you stopped measuring productivity by hours… and started measuring it by impact? 👇 Comment below 🔁 Follow for practical health + wealth systems 📩 DM if you want help designing a more sustainable way to work and lead #DeepWork #LeadershipMindset #HealthcareLeadership #PropertyEntrepreneur #WorkSmarter
