I have seen a lot of changes in the construction industry over my 44 years within it There is going to be a lot more changes over the next 44 also. Although I won’t see them all, one I’m certain of is the change of high street shopping areas turned into residential areas. Not all of them obviously but I see some now with more shops shut down than are open. With that in mind I’m about to buy one! I plan to turn it into an HMO with communal space in what was the shop and 8 double rooms within the floors above. It’s not so much as a gamble more of an experiment. I have the backing of the local council and a housing association so although I might make a bit of money from the experience it may go somewhat to helping with an accommodation problem and see others follow my model in the area. I know it has been done very successfully in other areas but not seen many with the actual ground floor shop been used other than for access. Let me know your thoughts and suggestions Jim
