EPC C is still coming 👀 but the pressure’s eased.. (for now) After months of uncertainty, the Government has quietly softened its EPC C plans for landlords and it’s a genuinely important update. Here’s what’s changed: 🔹 The 2028 deadline for new tenancies has been dropped 🔹 Landlords now have until October 2030 to comply (or register an exemption) 🔹 Maximum spend per property is capped at £10,000 down from £15,000 🔹 EPCs will now last 10 years, not 5 🔹 Recent upgrades will count toward the cap EPC C is still the direction of travel 👉🏼 but this takes away the cliff-edge many landlords were worried about and gives more time to plan upgrades properly. There’s still detail to come (including how EPCs are calculated), but for now this shifts the focus from panic to practical planning. From a finance point of view, energy efficiency is becoming part of the bigger picture.. alongside borrowing, cash flow, and long-term strategy. If EPC improvements are on your radar, it’s worth thinking about how they fit into your plans now rather than later.
