Who actually handles "bona vacantia" assets in the UK? There are three main bodies: 1.) Bona Vacantia Division (BVD): part of the Government Legal Department handles most dissolved company assets in England & Wales. 2.) Crown Estate: manages certain freehold interests that transfer to the Crown. 3.) Duchy of Lancaster & Duchy of Cornwall: handle BV assets in their respective areas. Most referrals go to BVD....and that’s where the process usually starts. It's a simple structure, but not many people know who to contact.
