One of the better things to happen in the property world recently has slipped slightly under the radar. Bluebricks Magazine is now free. That might not sound like a big deal at first glance, but if you’ve been around the property industry for a while you’ll know how hard it is to build something like that properly. A magazine that actually reflects what’s going on in the world of development and investment rather than just recycling press releases and “top tips”. Bluebricks started life as a paid subscription magazine and in the last year it’s quietly grown into something pretty impressive. A big part of that comes down to two people I’ve got a lot of respect for. @Sam Cooke, who owns the magazine and has put a serious amount of belief and energy behind it. @Victoria_JVMC_Property, who edits it and has done a brilliant job shaping the voice and the quality of the content. Together they’ve built something that actually feels like it belongs to the industry. Now, with backing from @RomaFinance, they’ve shifted the model so the magazine can reach even more property developers across the country. Making it free removes the barrier and opens it up to a much bigger audience of people who are actively building projects, growing portfolios and moving the industry forward. I’ve been lucky enough to contribute to a few issues over the last year as well, which has been a lot of fun. My most recent piece was a slightly tongue-in-cheek guide on how to start a property networking event without being sectioned, which felt very on brand for me. What I like about Bluebricks is that it doesn’t pretend property is easy. The stories come from people actually doing the work. Developers delivering schemes. Investors navigating the reality of the market. Honest insight rather than polished theory. If you’re in the property space and you haven’t come across Bluebricks yet, it’s worth getting hold of a copy. You’ll find it easily enough if you search for Bluebricks Magazine online. Sam and Vicky have built something genuinely useful for the industry and it’s great to see it reaching even more people now. Chris x
