Happy Eid Mubarak Growing up we shared our public holidays together, we commissioned for halal curry to be served to our guests during Chinese new year when our Muslim friends come visiting and we go to their house when they celebrate Eid. We as kids get green packets containing money, a tradition our Muslim friends and banks inherited from our Chinese new year culture. The big mansions with gold taps and gold toilets, as dad was well connected with all the Datok, Abang.. your equivalent of the ministerial MPs, house of Lords, the OBEs, the Sirs and Lords. As dad was great at saving their taxes. I couldn't believe years of helping dad translating taxation documents meant that tax savviness has rubbed off on me, be it Swedish, Australian & UK taxes.... And now helping property investors to be more TAX SAVVY about this stuff. Nevertheless these are great memories of us, Christian Chinese, celebrating with our Muslim friends together.
