I won a client just through ambition. I was speaking to a potential client yesterday and it had been months if not a year in the making. Our timing had never aligned and we were both keen to explore how we could work together. Although we hadn’t really stayed in touch we had kept tabs on each others businesses and eventually we got a call scheduled. Time always seems to be the most common objection. And I totally get that. Although our proposition reduces time and money it still requires some to make new business happen. It seemed like that I wasn’t going to get this client onboarded because this persons schedule was so busy they weren’t going to find the time. Then I was hit with a question which I was expecting… so what’s your ambition for it? To be clear my ambition is pretty mammoth but in this moment I decided to share it and just nail my colours to the mast. “We plan to takeover LinkedIn, we want every property professional to be using us and to migrate away from a recruitment platform that doesn’t serve them” This was enough. The client couldn’t believe I said it and the fact my ambition had no limits meant they could see unrestricted levels of growth. Within seconds we had closed the deal and I am very excited to be working with this new company. I think I’ve learned that clients don’t want to just buy a product, they need a journey or a movement to be part of. A sense of underlying mission to things. So now I’m telling anyone that will listen.
