9-5 is dead. It’s just not a real thing anymore. Well atleast not anymore. Most people start their working day at 9am and there’s no real reason other than everyone else does it. I remember working an office job 2 hours away from my home. The reason I took the job is because I fully planned to relocate. Problem was my boss was a micromanager and didn’t trust his staff. Regardless of a smash on the motorway or something out of your control happening… 2 minutes late and instant performance plan. I vowed I never wanted to work like that again. Everyone should be treated like an adult. Now fast forward to me running UK Homes Network, I started with the best intentions. 5am out of bed and calling it a day by 10pm. That’s the entrepreneur mindset right? But within 6 months I was ruined. My health suffered and people around me started to comment I didnt look very well. Recently I’ve been trying new ways to work. My favourite is 10am - 6pm. I ease into my day with no stress and I have myself fully engaged. Of course I work early and work late, but just changing my ‘set hours’ is more of a mindset shift than anything else. Theres no urgency to drop everything to be at my desk. I network and speak to people for a living… no one wants a conversation before 10am anyway. I’m learning that if I put myself in a good place, the productivity is ten fold. What have you done to go against the status quo? Are you rebelling against the norm and better for it?
