The Hillsborough Law is now in force. If a public body knowingly misleads the public, it could now face criminal consequences. For years, residents at Royal Artillery Quays have presented evidence they say demonstrates unlawful construction and serious fire safety failures. Despite this, Greenwich Council has continued to publicly deny the existence of that evidence. The Hillsborough Law introduces a new offence of misleading the public, carrying a maximum penalty of two years' imprisonment for the most serious cases. Does this new law change the conversation?
