This isn’t simply a housing issue. It’s a public health issue. The property featured in this video contained extensive mould growth alongside severe hoarding conditions that had contributed to significant health concerns for the occupants. Too often, we treat mould as a cosmetic defect rather than recognising it as one indicator of a wider unhealthy indoor environment. Every day, tenants across the UK continue living in homes that may be affecting their respiratory health, mental wellbeing and quality of life. As The Wellbeing Surveyor, my role isn’t simply to identify defects. It’s to demonstrate how buildings influence the health of the people living inside them and to help drive better outcomes through evidence, education and collaboration. I’d be interested to hear from professionals, landlords, housing providers, environmental health officers and tenants. What do you believe is the biggest barrier to creating healthier homes in the UK? Let’s start a constructive conversation that leads to real change. #HealthyHomes #PublicHealth #BuildingSurveying #Housing #IndoorAirQuality
